Herdshare Program

We are excited to announce our Herdshare Program. This is like a CSA for beef, or a Buying Club. We are now delivering our our delicious grass-fed, grass-finished, antiobiotic-free, hormone-free beef to cities around Oklahoma and the Dallas area.

Participating in the Herdshare Program, will get you retail cuts of beef every month at wholesale prices. And YES, you can get the bones from your own animal for making soup!

Join us for our Vineyard-Planting Festival and Open Farm Day on March 29, 2014. Vendors are invited. We are looking for both Made-In-Oklahoma vendors and other types of vendors, as well. Contact Alexis with questions: 405-757-7670.

Tickets are now on sale! Up to 30 volunteers are invited to sign up to help plant the vineyard. No heavy lifting is required, but you will spend some time on your knees. Last year's volunteers had a blast! Volunteers will get lunch provided, a Forbidden Fruits Farm t-shirt and will also become members of our Founders' Club. Founders' Club members get in free at all festivals and get 15% off all our products.

At the festival, we will be offering vineyard tours, farm demonstrations, music and dancing, and face-painting for the kids. Plan to make a day of it with your family! Children under 16 get in free!

Forbidden Fruits Farm is excited to announce our new Herdshare program! Over the course of a year, you get the equivalent of half of a medium-sized beef -- about 180lbs.

An average summer month, your box of beef will include (all frozen):

  • 2.25 lbs. Ribeye steaks
  • 2.25 lbs. Sirloin steaks
  • 3.5 lbs. Pikes Peak Roast
  • 1.5 lbs. Tenderized Round Steak
  • 5 lbs. Ground Beef

An average winter month, your box of beef will include:

  • 4 lbs. Arm Roast
  • 3 lbs. Rump Roast
  • 2 lbs. Beef tips cut for stew
  • 6 lbs. Ground Beef

Your box of beef will always have at least 15lbs. of our own delicious, nutritious grass-fed, grass-finished, naturally raised, hormone-free, antibiotic-free beef. As food prices and beef prices, in particular, continue to rise, you will lock in today's beef prices for an entire year. Talk about insurance against food inflation! Of course you might be reluctant to commit until you've tried some of our delicious beef. We understand. Just call Alexis and she'll pack the truck with two extra pounds of ground beef to the delivery near you so you can purchase just a bit and see just what we are so excited about.

The Fine Print

How it Works

When you sign up for our Herdshare program you are essentially committing to purchase "half" an average size animal from us over the course of the year. In order to get you fresh beef each month, you will actually be getting different cuts from different animals, all of which are born and raised on our farm according to strictly natural, wholesome standards. Fed and finished entirely on grasses. Depending on the season, the grasses might include hay or alfalfa pellets. If we do bring in hay or alfalfa, you can rest assured that they are always non-GMO grasses.

To get started, we encourage you to come visit the farm and buy a couple pounds of ground beef or a steak or two so you can try it before you commit to an entire year's worth of beef.

We are located in Southwestern Oklahoma (half way between Chickasha and Lawton). In order to keep costs low we only visit each city on our delivery rounds once per month. You agree to meet us during the delivery window to collect your box of frozen beef. We typically meet in the parking lots of garden-supply centers or malls. There are no provisions or facilities for having someone "hold onto your beef" until you can make it to the pick-up. If you don't make it to the pickup, we will bring it for you next month. You can always send someone to get it for you, as long as you let us know whom to expect.

Over the course of the year, you will receive bsically all the cuts in half a 900-lb. calf. About a third of all the beef you get will be ground beef. The balance will be steaks, oven roasts, and slow-cooker roasts. If you need a particular cut for an occasion, please call at least a week out so we have time to try to accommodate your requests. Obviously, you can't get ribeye steaks every month of the year, but we will try to honor requests. What's In a Typical Side of Beef?
